Our recent 16-day birding expedition in October 2025 with a group of tourists from the UK was nothing short of extraordinary. From the rich marine life of the Peruvian coast to the vibrant Amazon rainforest and the majestic Andean highlands, this journey captured the essence of Peru’s incredible diversity—its landscapes, wildlife, and culture.
The adventure began in Lima, exploring the islands off Callao where we witnessed thousands of seabirds including Inca Terns, Peruvian Boobies, Humboldt Penguins, and playful sea lions. From there, we traveled deep into the Tambopata National Reserve, home to Giant River Otters, Hoatzins, and the spectacular macaw clay licks, where hundreds of parrots and macaws gather daily in a breathtaking display of sound and color.
In the cloud forests of Manu, we encountered the dazzling Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, tanagers, hummingbirds, and woolly monkeys—an unforgettable experience in one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Our journey continued through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the archaeological wonders of Pisac and Sacsayhuaman, and culminated in the awe-inspiring citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
Throughout the tour, the group recorded nearly 400 species of birds, guided by the expertise of BirdSightings Peru’s local naturalists and the warm hospitality of our partner lodges. It was a journey filled with discovery, connection, and wonder—a true celebration of Peru’s three natural worlds: Coast, Andes, and Amazon.
For all of us at BirdSightings Peru, it was a privilege to share these moments with such passionate travelers. We can’t wait to welcome you on our next adventure through the wild heart of Peru!
